BEGINNING ENERGY FIELDS

Your energy body surrounds and interpenetrates your physical form. In psionics we call this the etheric body. For simplicity, I initially grouped all energy functions here—but it's more nuanced. Your etheric body contains multiple gradations, each with distinct functions.

THE AURA Closest to your physical body sits your aura—the densest etheric level. Colors in this aura reflect personality and health aspects. Sensitive individuals sometimes detect waveforms and thoughtforms here, though these typically appear at the next level. THE ETHERIC BODY PROPER Less dense than the aura, rarely visible except to exceptionally gifted individuals. This level houses most waveforms and thoughtforms affecting physical health. The physical body hangs upon this etheric framework, which contains those mysterious vortices called chakras (more on those later). Kundalini phenomena also occur here. Most psionic work affecting the physical body operates at this level. THE ASTRAL BODY Less dense still—this is where emotional responses have their greatest impact. Older literature sometimes calls this the emotional body. THE MENTAL BODY The finest density we can work with—all intellectual activity manifests here. Nineteenth-century writers loved splitting this into upper and lower mental: lower mental handled everyday thoughts (what's for dinner, which whip to use on the girlfriend), while higher mental dealt with abstract matters (how much to tip the waiter). The distinction was arbitrary—like much 19th-century nonsense, probably baseless. They likely wanted seven body layers instead of six, so they added an extra one after removing two purely spiritual levels. HOW LEVELS INTERACT All levels continually interact—none are completely independent. They constantly influence and are influenced by the physical body, which uses the five senses to gather and transmit information triggering reactions in each body.With psionic devices, we can isolate functions at each level and influence them, gaining significant control over our subjects. SPATIAL RELATIONSHIPS While all levels interpenetrate, finer levels extend further from the physical body. This sets up our first experiment. EXPERIMENT: MAPPING ENERGY BODIES You'll need: • One subject (human preferred) • A radionic box • A patch cable connecting box to psionic amplifying helmet • A table • A large sheet of paper Procedure: • Lay paper on the table. Seat your subject at one end, placing their hand on the paper. • Set your box on the table as far from the hand as the cable allows. • Write "etheric body" on a small paper piece and place it in the input witness can. Take a rate for the subject's etheric body. • Move the box closer so you can rub the stick pad while holding one cable end to the subject's finger. Plug the other end into the box's left hand jack. • While slowly moving the cable end away from the finger, rub the stick pad until you get a stick. This point marks the etheric body's extent from that finger. • Repeat around the hand, connecting points. The resulting drawing shows your subject's etheric body. The etheric body extends in all directions physically. Debate exists about whether it forms an egg, sphere, or rough physical outline—these details matter little. Psionics remains somewhat inexact, annoying but undeniable. MAPPING THE ASTRAL BODY Once you've drawn the etheric hand, try the astral hand. This may prove difficult—the astral body expands or contracts with emotional intensity. Keep your subject calm or happy, repeat the procedure with the box set for astral level. You might get another drawing, but don't be surprised if you run out of paper or table. The astral level can extend quite far, sometimes covering the entire house. MAPPING THE MENTAL BODY Drawing the mental level likely requires a very large table and lots of paper. Instead, set the box for the subject's mental body rate and walk backward while rubbing the plate, keeping in mind you'll get a stick when reaching that body's limit.
